I work at an elementary school and I have noticed more than and more than students wearing brand-up lately. I, personally, don't see anything wrong with it, and the school doesn't have whatever rules in the handbook that forbids it.

Today I was talking to my friend on the phone and she started complaining about how her ten year old daughter was made to wash off her make-up past a teacher in one of her classes. My friend was upset because her daughter was only wearing lipgloss and a scrap of mascara, and thought maybe the teacher's actions would accept been more justified had her girl looked like a clown or looked like she was going out to a lodge.

So, it kind of got me thinking. Is wearing brand-upwardly permitted at your school? Does it depend on how much they take on or how noticeable it is?

This question is geared more than towards junior loftier and elementary school teachers, but I approximate there is a chance that make-up isn't allowed in some high schools.

    Yes, they are allowed.

My loftier school principal once forced my culling friend to wash her face completely. Nosotros were both pretty upset because his reasoning was that her foundation was as well pale and he thought she was trying to be "ghostly". Well, yeah, she was naturally extremely pale, so...that's kind of how foundation works. He was a jerk. And he didn't seem concerned with the girls in the hall with orange, "bronzed" faces.

But, once again, yes...our students can wearable makeup.

I don't think we have a policy (k-4 edifice) but I can't retrieve seeing kids wearing any.

We don't take a policy, but I don't remember seeing it on any students younger than grade half dozen.

We practice have a policy-no makeup, not even lip gloss-in the elementary buildings. (m-v). They are permitted to have lip balm, though. Boys (and girls) are non permitted to wear perfume or cologne either, due to so many allergies and asthma sufferers.
Personally, I am glad nosotros have this policy. Some of my boys come in doused in cologne (like they drowned in it!) and it gives me a headache.

I am in a vi-12 edifice and there is no policy against brand-up. I have a good friend who has a daughter who will be 13 in virtually 5 months and she is now letting her daughter wear mascara (lightly) only.

I'g non sure of the letter of the law (though I really should be.) Simply no one will cease a girl if it looks natural. Once they start going overboard, they tin can be told to go launder their faces.... that tends to be more of an issue with the middle school gear up.

My own 12 yr old does not wear makeup nevertheless.

We're pre-k through 8th and no the kids are non allowed make upward. Some girls put on lip gloss, but that's it. Although they tin paint their nails whatsoever colour. Our kids are pretty good at sticking to the rules.

It varies between schools here, simply it was immune within reason when I was a kid. I remember experimenting with it a picayune around 6th grade. At that place aren't any rules nigh information technology in middle or loftier schoolhouse.

I saw a kindergartener come to class with some vivid pinkish purple lip gloss at a school where it was not immune. It looked like something that might have come in a play set. It wasn't a big bargain, the instructor told her information technology wasn't to be worn again. She didn't take to launder it off just that stuff doesn't last long anyway.

Our schools don't have any rules against wearing makeup, merely I banned cosmetic products in my 4th grade classroom one yr. Girls were taking them out during class, trying to share them, and completing distracting themselves and others. I wrote parents a note explaining this and I didn't run into whatever more in course again that yr. The next twelvemonth's girls didn't crusade the aforementioned problems, and then I didn't have to ban makeup.

Our kids wearable uniforms, and nosotros have a no make-up, no nail polish, no jewlery (except for pocket-size post earrings, i earring per ear)... Crosses or religious medals can exist worn, just must be tucked inside the girl's blouse. (It is a religious school.)

We don't fifty-fifty allow chap stick or lip lotion, unless it is sent in to the office and students are sent to the office at the beginning of recess to apply information technology. Nosotros had to do that because too many "lip balms" where actually shiny lip glosses, and as well many girls were applying it all the fourth dimension. Information technology became a distraction.

    No rules.
We have girls coming in wearing extremely heavy make-up. I'1000 talking more brand-upward than I've ever worn and they clothing it on a daily ground!

I believe our policy is that they can't wear excessive make up. I don't know the letter of the police force, only I accept not had an result with it at the 4th form level before. I know once they get to 5th and 6th grade that information technology has become an issue. It just makes me sad when I meet the girls wearing so much makeup at such a immature age.

Don't remember our schoolhouse has any rules confronting it, but also don't think that anyone really wears any.... our school only goes up to 8th grade so I maybe some of the middle schoolers wear makeup... but it hasn't been a problem.

I teach in a half-dozen-8 building, and a lot of the girls vesture brand-upwards. Honestly I really don't pay attention to it all that much. They don't bring any bags or purses into the classroom, so there is not an effect with them putting on make-up during course. That would be my only issue with it.

The schoolhouse I teach in (K-12) has a no make-up policy. The school my children go to (1000-12) also has a no make-up policy. I take to say at my school, it is non a very popular policy and the girls are ever trying to get away with wearing make-upwardly (it's usually centre liner).
  17. April 11, 2012

I teach in a 6-eight building and at that place'southward no policy regarding makeup. Most of the girls habiliment it, just it'south nothing as well crazy looking.

The quondam schoolhouse I worked at was a catholic schoolhouse and at that place was a very strict policy confronting makeup and smash polish. I rarely enforced it though - I have better things to practice at work than to worry about whether or not a educatee has on nail shine or mascara - unless of course it was blatantly obvious and distracting.

We don't take a policy against makeup in my schoolhouse. Well-nigh girls wear makeup that looks natural, only some vesture too much.

    Wow.... That seems completely unfair.

Yes, students here are starting to discover the power of a little bronzer... One kiddo I take has a face up that looks completely airbrushed, with bronzer, blush, and mascara.

Last yr I had a 2nd grader come in with more make-up than I have ever worn at one time. I immediately fabricated her go wash it off. Other than that I have not had a problem with make-up.
I accept had a few issues with fake nails, merely I tell my students they need to remove them due to safety bug. This normally only happens once or twice during the school year.

Now that I think about information technology, I don't even actually see our middle school kids wearing make up! I've never even seen a child in my grade wear lip gloss, and I teach up to fifth. I guess information technology might exist part of living up in the mountains...people are also "outdoorsy" for that. Literally the only other developed who I can think of in the edifice who wears make up to work is the chief.
